Instructions

  • In a huge bowl take aata, salt and baking soda. Add a little pinch of Baking soda and mix well. Ensure not to add too much Baking Soda.

  • Now add oil and mix and rub between both palms.

  • Knead the dough with water. Quantity of water might be a little bit depending upon the texture of the aata.

  • Knead it for a couple of minutes and cover the dough with a damp towel or with an inverted bowl.

  • Keep it for 1/2 an hour.

  • Preheat microwave for 10 minutes keeping the plate inside on which we need to cook roti. If you are using an OTG, preheat the OTG between 250°C and 300°C.

  • Make five balls out of dough. Roll each ball into a roti with a rolling pin on wood board (chakla) or with hands.

  • Place the rotis on a hot steel plate or the OTG tray.

  • Keep this plate on the grill rack. Close the door.

  • Select ‘grill’ from the cooking functions. Now set the time for 14 minutes. If the rotis are thick, then set more time. Though I set for 16 minutes, my rotis were all set in 13 minutes. If you are using an otg, set the timer between 8 to 10 minutes.

  • Now begin cooking by pressing start/go button.

  • After 7 or 8 minutes roti will be all set from one side. Open the microwave door and turn the rotis to the other side.

  • Again close the door and continue cooking with the staying time. Roti is all set. Get from the microwave.

  • Keep an eye on the rotis through the door. Next batch of rotis will take less time.

Notes

Tips:
1. little oil and salt makes the roti soft along with crisp .
2. Delight in the roti by using butter or saturated ghee to it. Health-conscious people can eat without butter or ghee.
