Using a Pampered Chef Stone

It is so very heat-safe ! The stone is heat-safe to 550°F ( 287°C ) – this means you can use it in the oven, microwave ( okay, possibly not the bombastic pizza stone, unless you have a identical big microwave ), dishwasher, freezer, and under the broiler .

  • Evenly distribute food across as much of the surface as possible, at least two-thirds full.
  • You can preheat your stone up to 500°F (260°C) for up to 30 minutes. This will shorten the cooking time, so check 5-10 minutes sooner.
  • Making frozen pizza? Preheating is NOT necessary. Add the frozen pizza to the stone and put it in the oven. (On the other hand, if your stone is already hot because you’ve removed a pizza, you can add another immediately and put it back in the oven.

How to Clean a Pampered Chef Pizza Stone (or other stones!)

  • Use the included pan scraper to remove any debris from your stone. As the seasoning builds up, this will became needed less often.
  • Let the stone cool completely before placing in the dishwasher.
  • Want to build up that seasoning as quickly as possible? Handwash your stone – after it is cool, of course – with warm water. You don’t need to use any soap.

Safe Use Instructions

No one wants to get hurt. Nor do you want your beautiful stone to shatter into pieces. here are some authoritative things to keep in mind .

WARNING

  • Hot stoneware is … well, it’s hot! If you touch it directly, it will burn your skin. Don’t do that!
  • Always use heat-resistant oven mitts or pads.
  • Stoneware can break if bumped or dropped. If this occurs, use caution as broken pieces can be sharp and could cause injury. Do not use chipped or damaged stoneware.
  • Stoneware should not touch the sides of the oven or the oven door when closed.
  • At least two-thirds of the surface should be covered with food to avoid thermal shock. Evenly distribute food over the stone and avoid clustering.
  • Avoid extreme temperature changes. Let stoneware cool to room temperature before adding liquid or cleaning. If placing frozen foods directly onto a preheated stone, evenly spread across the entire stone to minimize potential breakage.
  • Always place stoneware on hot pads or trivets to avoid damage to countertops and tables. Do not place directly on a cool surface.
  • Stoneware may scratch surfaces; place a protective barrier between the stoneware and the surface.
  • No grill, remember! Pampered Chef stones are not grill-safe.

Easy Cleanup!

  • Wash before first use; dishwasher-safe. Allow the stone to fully cool before dishwashing.
  • To deep clean: Prepare a baking soda paste by mixing ½ cup (125 mL) of baking soda with 3 Tablespoons (45 mL) water. Apply to the dirty spot and let stand for 15–20 minutes. Use a nonabrasive sponge or cloth to wipe off the excess paste, rinse completely, and towel dry.

USE AND CARE

  • Stoneware will naturally season and develop a nonstick surface over time with use. Dishwashing will lengthen the amount of time to develop seasoning.
  • Slight sticking may occur for the first several uses. For the best results, bake high-fat foods (e.g., refrigerated biscuits) or lightly brush with cooking oil for the first several uses. Aerosol nonstick spray is not recommended; it will create a sticky residue which is difficult to clean.
  • Stoneware can be used in conventional and convection ovens, microwave, refrigerator, and is freezer-safe.
  • Always thaw dense foods like frozen chicken breasts, pot pies, roasts or chops in the refrigerator prior to cooking on your stone.
  • Stones are heat-safe and broiler-safe up to 550°F (287°C). Food must be 5 inches (13 cm) away from the heat source.
  • Stones can be preheated with no food on them up to 500°F (260°C) for up to 30 minutes.
